Decking needs care, not maximum pressure
A cleaner deck should still have an intact surface. Start with what the boards are made of, then choose the method.

Find the board details
Timber species, composite products and moulded boards vary. If you have installation records, the product name helps. Use the current instructions for the actual board, rather than a universal pressure setting from the internet.
Look for repair needs first
Soft timber, movement, protruding fixings and splinters need attention before cleaning. Cleaning reveals condition; it does not make a failing deck structurally sound.
Understand the finish
Old stain or oil can be uneven and may lift during cleaning. A clean will not necessarily restore the original colour. If you want sanding or a new finish, scope that separately and allow for the required drying conditions.
Ask for a test
An appropriate test area helps judge the method and likely appearance. We assess the surface before proposing cleaning and explain what may remain. A request for less aggressive care is sensible, not an obstacle.
